Always on my mind

Jim Ellison was alone. Again. It seemed whenever he loved someone, he lost that someone: His mother, Carolyn, Incacha....and now Blair.

Blair Sandburg. Who would have thought that he would come to mean so much to him? Not Jim. Way back when the warehouse Blair stayed in blew up, Jim had to take him in for a while - but the intention had been that it would be temporary.

Now everything was different. They had been through so much together - mad bombers, Kincaid, Lash, Brackett, they'd both been drugged, Jim had been temporarily blinded, he'd lost his senses on several occasions

Then there had been the ladies. Many had been really nice, like Margaret, but those remembered were the bad ones: Veronica Saris, Iris, Maya - though she was not really guilty of any crime - and of course Alex. Jim still couldn't believe that he had fallen for her. Was he that bound to instincts? As he thought of it, he was just as bad a dog as Blair - if not worse. He probably would not jump a table leg, but the way he had acted when Alex was around really scared him. How could he be attracted to a woman that actually killed his best friend? He knew Blair probably could explain that in many ways, but Blair was no longer around. And that was Jim's fault.

Jim had turned the radio on when he got home. Without Blair the loft was too empty, and this was Jim's way of trying to fill the void. An old Elvis song started, and Jim listened to the lyrics. And for the first time in his life, he really heard them.

Elvis Presley: Always on my mind

Maybe I didn't treat you
Quite as good as I should have
Maybe I didn't love you
Quite as often as I could have
Little things I should have said and done
I just never took the time

You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

Maybe I didn't hold you
All those lonely, lonely times
And I guess I've never told you
I'm so happy that you're mine
If I made you feel second best
Girl, I'm so sorry I was blind

You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

Tell me, tell me that your sweet love hasn't died
Give me, give me one more chance to keep you satisfied, satisfied

Little things I should have said and done
I just never took the time

You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

You were always on my.mind
